Field Components

What are Field Components?

The Field Components are the data capture elements added to your experience. Using these components you can capture data such as email, phone number, address, etc. In this article you will find explained the functionality of each component.

How to access Field Components?

Once you create a new experience or choose to use one of our Odicci templates, the tool bar will be available for you in the right side of your screen.

Field Components are the same for every experience, the tool bar does not change depending on the type of experience you have chosen. 

The Field Components tool bar consists of:

  1. Email
  2. Text Field
  3. Dropdown
  4. Radio Button
  5. Date
  6. Hidden Value
  7. Opt In
  8. Text Area
  9. Unique Code
  10. Number
  11. Phone Number
  12. Post Code
  13. Site List
1. Email

Add an email field to your experience by pressing the button 'Email'. If you are trying to capture customer emails in this experience, this will allow you to introduce a field to your experience that requires an email address. You can choose to use an already existent field or create a new one by pressing the button 'New'.

If you are choosing to create a new field ID, after you have pressed the button 'New', introduce your field ID name in the 'ID' box as shown in the example below.

Once you have saved your new field id, you can now customise the email field accordingly to your brand requirements.

You can also edit the 'Options' and 'Style' of your new email field such as minimum field length, maximum field length and style. You can also choose to set the field as 'Required', request 'Double verification', set as 'Autocomplete' or 'Double optin'. Before setting this changes please check your country's legislation and GDPR. 

2. Text Field

Add a 'Text Field' to your experience by pressing the button 'Text Field'. Depending on the data that you want to capture your text field can require informations such as Name, First name, Surname or questions such as 'What is your favourite colour?'. Using the appropriate field ID will be important for reading your data when the experience will be over. 

 You can style your 'Text field' in the menu 'Style' or choose minimum/maximum field length and tick the button 'Required'.

3. Dropdown

The Dropdown functionality allows users to choose their option from a list in a dropdown format. This field can be used for capturing data such as Country, Gender and many others. 

The 'Dropdown' field can be styled as the fields previously and in the menu 'Options' you can input the variety of options users can choose from. To use more options please use the following format: 'London;Paris;Berlin' separating the options with ';'. You can also make this field required. 

4. Radio Button

The 'Radio Button' functionality can be used to give users an option to tick the correct answer. 

You can add new options by pressing enter as presented in the example below. In the menu 'Options' you can layout the Radio Button as list or inline. Radio Button can also be a required field.

5. Date

The 'Date' feature can be used to collect data in a date format such as Birthday. In the menu 'Options' you can edit the Date Format, input an Age Restriction or make the field Required.

6. Hidden Value

The 'Hidden Value' feature has been introduced in order to help clients with organising the data collected. 'Hidden Value' will not appear on the live experience and can be of help for example when creating separate experiences for all genders or countries. Simply add your new field ID or use an existent one. 

7. Opt In

The 'Opt In' feature has been introduced in order to offer users the option to opt in for emails, new promotions, etc. Create a new field ID or use the existent ones, then edit the style of the field accordingly to your brand. You can also choose a standard or two options layout as well as a pre-ticked field.

8. Text Area

Using the same functionality as 'Text Field', the 'Text Area' allows users to input more data into the field. It can be used for longer text such as feedback.

9. Unique Code

The 'Unique Code' functionality allows the user to input the Unique code (example: Gift code) received previously to redeem their prize. 

10. Number

Use the 'Number' feature to allow users to input a number in the field. You can use the menu 'Style' to edit the field accordingly to your brand and the menu 'Options' to 'Allow decimals' or make the field required.

11. Phone Number

Add the 'Phone Number' functionality to your experience if you would like to capture user's phone numbers. The field will automatically generate the country codes.

12. Post Code

Use the 'Post Code' functionality to capture user's postcodes. You can also map postcodes with sites in the menu 'Options'.

13. Site List

Use the 'Site List' functionality if you would like to capture data regarding your Stores. In the menu 'Options' you can edit your site list configuration. This can also be done by entering account 'Settings' and submenu 'Sites'.
